Cynthia Haines, M.D., Named Managing Editor of Physician's Briefing News Wire

NORWALK, Conn. - Oct. 22, 2007 -- Dr. Cindy Dennison Haines has been named Managing Editor of HealthDay's Physician's Briefing, a daily news service for health and medical professionals.

"We're delighted to have Cindy take the leading role in managing Physician's Briefing's editing and writing team," said Editor-in-Chief Barry Hoffman, who oversees both the professional news

service and HealthDay, a leading daily health news service for consumers. "Her knowledge of important medical issues and research into diseases helps the daily news on our Physician's Briefing wire pinpoint those topics that health professionals will find particularly compelling."

Dr. Haines, 36, a family physician, is on staff at St. John's Mercy Medical Center and an assistant clinical professor at Saint Louis University's School of Medicine in the Department of Community and Family Medicine.

Before joining Physician's Briefing full time, Dr. Haines ran her own medical communications consulting firm and has been a medical writer, senior medical editor and consultant to both consumer and professional healthcare content providers.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in biology and psychology from Saint Louis University. She also studied medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and earned an M.D. with Distinction, as well as a Geriatric Scholar's Award.

Dr. Haines is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is board certified in Family Medicine. She is also active in the St. Louis business and health community, serving as vice president of the board for the Saint Louis Academy of Family Physicians and director of marketing and publicity for the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association (St. Louis chapter).

Physician's Briefing is a division of ScoutNews, LLC, a Norwalk, Conn.-based news and information company.
